Providing a fully outsourced payroll service to the charity
The Invictus Games embody the fighting spirit of wounded, injured, and sick Service personnel – demonstrating how the power of sport can change lives. The Games and the work of the Foundation beyond the Games inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who have suffered whilst serving their country.
Our Payroll team were approached by the Invictus Games Foundation in 2017, and were tasked with providing a fully outsourced payroll service to the charity.
Carolyn Liddiard, former Invictus Games Foundation Finance Director, current Finance Director of Invictus Games Birmingham 2027:
I always liken payroll to IT, nobody ever thanks you for getting it right, but it is disastrous when it goes wrong! Luckily for us we have the care and attention of Charlotte and the rest of the payroll team at Price Bailey – so it never goes wrong!
We are a small team at the charity and as such we do not have the in-house expertise, nor the time, to run our payroll in-house.
By outsourcing to Price Bailey, who are experts in this field, I know that it is taken care of to the highest standard. Payroll information is always provided to me on a timely basis through a secure system to enable it to be reviewed prior to the pay date. New joiners and leavers are actioned as needed, and changes to pay are always put through accurately.
Occasionally staff will raise a question, and the team respond immediately with the answer written clearly and concisely, but in a way that everyone understands. For me, this is a key feature of the service – all our employees trust that their pay is correct.
Charlotte Stokes, Payroll Supervisor, Price Bailey:
We are very proud to work with an organisation like Invictus Games Foundation, and they are a pleasure to work with. We support a number of not for profit organisations and thoroughly enjoy working within the sector.
Payroll is a service that can often require amendments due to its variable nature. For any changes required, Carolyn advises the change in good-time and helpful detail, providing the information we need to get the Payroll processed efficiently and accurately. We work closely together to support each other’s timelines. We look forward to continuing a great relationship with Carolyn and the team.

From 1 January 2025 the EU has changed its VAT regulations concerning virtual events and live-streamed services. This change primarily affects business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions, altering the "place of supply" rules to ensure VAT is applied where the consumer resides, rather than where the supplier is based or where the event originates.
